Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

I found this website on liver cancer options  written up in the magazine “Liver Health Today”. It was started by WNBA player Lisa Leslie after she lost her stepfather to liver cancer.

Favorite Recipes in Cooking Around the World

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Hello friends,

For those of you who have supported us by purchasing our cookbook, I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite recipes in the book.

Main dishes:

Picadillo, page 103 – ground beef ( it’s also good with ground turkey), canned tomatoes, chili, cinnamon, cumin, raisins and almonds served over rice. Serve with grated cheese if you want. Everybody likes this.

Chinese Hunan (Sweet) Beef, page 81 – best ever stir fry recipe! Marinate your choice of beef, chicken or pork, stir fry with your favorite vegetables, add sauce, which includes hoisin sauce, sesame oil, soy etc. and serve on rice or Chinese noodles.   As long as you have some meat and veggies on hand and keep hoisin, sesame oil and soy in the pantry, you are good to go. I like to add Chinese dried mushrooms. In fact, regular old shriveled mushrooms soaked in hot water, squeezed and cut up are great, too.

Soup:

Minestrone, page 33 – my favorite soup!

Desserts:

Very Chocolate Cherry Bread, page 250, is quite addicting! You can use dried cranberries instead of the dried cherries. They are much cheaper.

Bacardi Rum Cake, page 244, is super simple and delicious. People used to pay one of our daughters to make this when she was in college.

Black Forest Cherry Cake, page 247, is a scrumptious 2 layer chocolate cake soaked in brandy with thickened and sweetened tart cherries and whipped cream between the layers and on top. Best ever dessert for a party!

What are your favorite recipes in this book? Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions on any of the recipes, too.

Don’t have this cookbook? Well, what’s stopping you?! You can order it online from our website. Enjoy!
